There is no better way to capture big changes than time-lapse, and let’s be honest, there are lots of ways to accomplish this. You could stick up a GoPro and hope the battery lasts. Or use a DSLR in an enclosure with a timer and battery pack and return to the site every month or so to download the media. How do you keep the glass de-fogged? How do you know the system is working?

After much searching and testing, we have decided that off-the-shelf time-lapse solutions aren’t robust enough for remote settings or Alaska’s climate.
